RAND Policy Labs provide an exclusive opportunity for public service fellows to engage directly with RAND researchers and learn about global and domestic policy issues. Please join us for our next Policy Lab on what influences a nation’s global standing, with RAND's Michael Mazarr.

About the Webinar

Why do nations rise and fall? Succeed or fail? Enjoy stability or descend into chaos? In a recent study, RAND's Michael Mazarr examined one key factor: the quality of a nation's society.

In this policy lab, Mazarr will break down his findings, highlighting seven societal traits of competitively successful nations, such as national ambition and will, effective institutions, and competitive diversity and pluralism. He will also explain where the United States stands in these areas and lays out a framework for potential national renewal.
