Location: Virtual Event - Zoom

Date: Tuesday, Aug 24

Time: 1800 ET

Cost: Free

Details: This session will go over Miranda’s research entitled Diplomatic Disarray: Exploring American Brinkmanship in Obtaining Russian Compliance with the INF Treaty (Click here to read it: https://ur.umbc.edu/files/2020/05/umbcReview_2020.pdf). This research was published prior to the Biden administration, and concluded that Trump administration utilized a brinkmanship strategy to justify their withdrawal, and the only way Russia would be interested in joining again is if the China threat was addressed. Miranda would like to hear from her fellow NSGS members on how the INF plays a role in Biden’s foreign policy, and gauge the plausibility of reinstating the treaty.
