Sarah Martin is the Fellow for the “Communicating National Security to Non-Experts” panel, and she works on social media and media outreach for the #NatSecGirlSquad Conference. Sarah is a recent master's of science graduate from George Mason University's School of Conflict Analysis and Resolution, where she wrote her thesis on the motivations of Chechen foreign fighters who went to Syria to fight with the Islamic State. She also attended courses in the Department of War Studies at King's College London, and recently returned from Middlebury College's summer language program, where she studied Russian. Sarah volunteers as a social media strategist, running the Instagram page for the DC-based organization, Young Professionals in Foreign Policy (YPFP). She has since been published in Divergent Options. Last week, Sarah worked as a poll manager for her precinct, helping constituents cast their vote. Currently, she works in the advocacy field, supporting workers rights and representation, for the Utility Workers Union of America.
